Dr. Maobin Yang Awarded Tenure at Temple University

Dr. Maobin Yang has obtained tenure and is now an associate professor for the Department of Endodontology. Dr. Yang is also currently director of the Postdoctoral Endodontics Program and the Regenerative Health Research Laboratory, a Diplomate of American Board of Endodontics, and an Abramson Faculty Scholar.


“Receiving tenure is an important step forward in my academic career,” said Dr. Yang. “It is a starting point from which I will continue to advance my scientific research, provide outstanding teaching, inspire future dentists, advocate for our dental specialty, and strive for excellence.”


Dr. Yang’s research areas focus on the regeneration of dental tissues using tissue engineering technology, including using dental stem cells and generating innovative biomaterials. Dr. Yang has published numerous papers and book chapters, and he serves on the editorial board of several biomedical journals. 


“Dr. Yang has been a leader in endodontic research and has shown a strong track record in his research and teaching,” said Dean Amid Ismail. “We are thrilled he is collaborating with the College of Engineering and our new research teams in the oral microbiome and smart biomaterials to develop integrative therapies that will influence the field of regenerative endodontics.”


Since coming to Temple University, Dr. Yang has left his mark on our School, especially the Endodontology program. “He is a well-rounded person and a good colleague. He is smart and always has good intentions. I am very happy for him for this well-deserved proof of success,” said Dr. Cemil Yesilsoy, chair and associate professor of the Department of Endodontology.


Dr. Yang has received the American Association of Endodontic’s Endodontic Educator Fellowship Award and John and Joyce Ingle Fellow Award. Dr. Yang received his D.M.D. from Temple University in 2015 and he has D.D.S. and M.S. degrees from the West China School of Stomatology at Sichuan University, China. Additionally, he received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Connecticut in 2009, and completed his postgraduate residency training in Endodontics, M.D.S. and certificate from the University of Connecticut in 2012.
